Air purification in lift cabins

Also in lift cars there are different ways for viruses and bacteria to spread. On the one hand through direct contact with contaminated surfaces, on the other hand through the air where viruses can attach themselves to aerosols. In the meantime, there are various different air purification systems available which fight viruses and bacteria with filters, through bi-polar ionization or through UV rays.

Different scientific studies suggest undoubtedly that lifts can be a source of infections. Predominantly push buttons are found to be contaminated with viruses. Aside the dangerous Covid-19 virus also other types can be detected like flu viruses, noro- and rhinoviruses or viruses causing streptococcal diseases.

For an effective and sustainable hygiene concept air purification as well as surface disinfection need to be considered. Manual disinfection requires significant personnel efforts causing high costs. Effective and economic innovations are necessary to achieve solid hygiene standards. A real alternative is the disinfection through the use of UV-C cleaning systems or through air ionization.
